Cereal grains are among the most basic of foodstuffs. In 2005, Corn traded quietly below $2.00. By mid 2008, it had nearly quadrupled in price to reach a new all-time high above $7.50! But by the end of 2008 that price had been more than halved when it plunged to below $3.00!

But wait --- there's more! Now it is back testing $7.00. In 2005, Wheat was trading at a subdued $3.00/bushel. But in three years the CBOT's soft red more than quadrupled to $13.00 --- while hard red spring traded in Minneapolis soared to an astounding $24.00!

After plummeting to below $4.50 in 2010, the CBOT in only three months so far this year has traded in a range almost as wide as the starting price in 2005.
